According to Odaily, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently issued a warning about the rise in work-from-home job scams. Fraudsters are reportedly reaching out to potential victims via phone calls or text messages, offering relatively simple jobs such as rating restaurants or 'optimizing' a service by repeatedly clicking a button.

In some instances, scammers even lead victims to a fake interface, showing them that they are earning money, which they can never cash out. The victims are then instructed to pay the fake employers in cryptocurrency to 'unlock' more work, but the money ends up in the hands of the fraudsters.

As per data from Statista, by the end of 2023, the proportion of remote workers globally had risen to 28%.
