Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 was praised by fans and critics alike for its faithful update of a classic horror game. One sharp-eyed player noticed a clever clue for Maria, which many would have missed (spoiler alert).

The Silent Hill 2 2024 remake was praised critically. It was also a commercial success when it came out in October. For modernizing a game that’s considered a survival horror masterpiece and has been around for a long time, Bloober Team has fans praising them for a successful remake.

Since it first hit store shelves in 2001, players have grown to unravel the town’s deepest secrets, and this remake presents even more layers of foreshadowing for fans to explore.

In Heaven’s Night Club, one fan, Rashmunchel, shared a screenshot of a neon “KISS” sign. When it appeared above Maria’s head, the sign’s reflection read “SICK.”

The clue here is related to Maria being a manifestation of Mary, the terminally ill wife of James Sunderland.

Throughout the game, Maria is seductive, but the “KISS-SICK” reflection has a little bit of a foreshadowing about Maria’s connection to Mary.

Rashmunchel also noticed another detail: a caged EXIT sign above James’ head might be an indication of the notion that he can’t get out of his own guilt and suffering.

Fans praise the depth of Silent Hill 2

Fellow players were impressed with Rashmuchel’s finding of such a valuable clue. They also applauded the studios for such details.

Much like James himself during the story was blinded by denial, some fans said they were so distracted by Maria’s flirtatious behavior that they did not catch the hidden message. The cleverly placed sign is just another reason fans love the remake.

Given that horror game fans hold out for more Silent Hill remakes from Bloober Team, others choose to dive deep into the fog-shrouded town to explore more. Silent Hill 2 remains a prominent name in the horror genre of games. It seems like the players are happier to find all the hidden gems buried in the mist and share them with others.
