Best ETH hot wallet anyone?

I'm a bit new to the ETH train but wouldn't mind moving some crypto off the CEX and onto an actual wallet.

Anyone got some good, preferably non shady wallet sites?

I know metamask is one but that seems a bit slippy and nebulous.

hardware wallet >>>>>>> mobile wallet app >> desktop browser wallet

If you absolutely cannot use a hardware wallet for some reason (please use one if you can) then an app like MetaMask or Rainbow wallet on your mobile should work OK for small amount of funds. Never enter your recovery key or recovery phrase on a computer unless you're actually recovering your wallet; keep it on paper in a safe/secure location.
