Gmgmgmgm Square Fam!
It's a wonderful Monday and a wonderful month🙂
Welcome to the 48th episode of The #ICP Pulse Season 3, your daily dose of all things on $ICP
But, before we start...
I've put a lot of effort and time into this series, so if you don't mind, please consider liking this episode and supporting me by subscribing.
This will help me provide you with more quality information, thank you🫶
Now, without further ado, Let's get into today's episode🚀
1️⃣$ICP Price action

Aaannnddd that's what we call a breakout🐳
The Price action shoots from the previous resistance zone at 12.3 USD, exactly as we discussed in earlier episodes.
The price rallied to 13.8 USD as of press time before settling in the 13.3 -13.5 USD range.
In terms of chopping, we can also chop from 13.4 -13.9 USD before any rally after a potential pullback, if any.
Now, the next resistance band sits around 14-15 USD which is kinda high, but may require mid to high volumes to surpass that range.
It's time we wait as the playbook plays on📺
As Always, NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE, SO DYOR🫡
Note that we aren't going into a deep analysis of our usual stuff, as we have to discuss what happened at the R&D Meeting, which was released on the 29th of November 2024.
2️⃣R&D Meeting Minutes November 2024 @ DFINITY HQ
🟪Host: Rostislav Rumenov, Team Lead [Networking] @ DFINITY
Agenda
Metrics By Kyle Langham
Milestone Update By Manu drijvers and Rostislav Rumenov
Mobile Authentication - II best practices By Roel Storms
Async Checkpointing demo by Alexsandr Ufimstev
Community Demo by Tap Protocol.
1️⃣Metrics By Kyle Langham
According to Kyle,
➡️Here is how the cycle pricing has changed in the context of the NNS subnet👇

➡️The NNS subnet was chosen due to its high data availability.
➡️YTD The numbers in terms of important metrics on the IC are up as high as above👇

➡️It's wonderful to see that almost every metric is up as high as 🔺+200%
2️⃣Milestone Updates By Manu Drijvers
According to Manu,
➡️The IC completed the Stellarator, Tokamak, and Beryllium Milestones.
➡️Tokamak = reduced end-to-end latency🚤
➡️Stellarator = improved storage sizes for canisters on the IC📦
➡️Beryllium = canister devOps, shipping tolling to build and monitor Canister stats
➡️Now, Rosti takes the stage to explain the impact of the Tkamak milestone.
➡️Latency dropped from almost 15K ms to 7.5K ms, which is around a 50% reduction.

➡️The Internet Identity latency is also down from 12.5K ms to around 11K ms.
➡️Canister latency is down to 2.5K ms from a peak of 7.5K ms, which is a 🔻67% reduction.
➡️Thanks to the Tokamak upgrade both UX and DX [Developer Expeirence] have also improved and it has now also one of the fastest in the industry.
➡️The tokamak upgrade was achieved through, synchronous update calls, enhanced routing on boundary nodes, and faster consensus via the new P2P layer.
➡️Now, to the stellarator Milestone.
➡️ Here, Stefan Schneider from the foundation explains the context of improved memory limits👇

➡️This upgrades subnet memory limits from 700GB to a whopping 1 TB and canister stable memory limits from 4GB yto a staggering 500GB, which is a 500x increase🤯
➡️Now checkpointing has been fixed and the Bitcoin subnet latency has dropped from 20s to 1 single second.
➡️Kamil Popielarz from the consensus team took the stage to discuss Increasing Message throughouts.
➡️Here is a brief overview on how the consensus algo has been tuned👇

➡️Simply, the algo is now more tuned to imply more cycles being burned.
➡️Now, Luc Bläser from the Motoko team has some updates on the programming language👻
According to Luc,
➡️Motoko program state now remains in Main memroy, wile avoiding serialization and deserialization.

➡️Motoko also utilizes 64Bit WASM [WebAssmebly] now.
➡️Finally, Manu explained the Beryllium Milestone.
According to Manu,
➡️Here is a summary on all things beryllium👇

➡️ICP developers are strongly encouraged to utilize the functionality offered by these milestones.
3️⃣Mobile Authentication - II best practices By Roel Storms
According to Roel,
➡️This aims is to be a fix to the Internet Identity on mobile as its not supported natively.
The focus is to provide a proxy web app with an intermediate session key.
➡️Roel's explanation how the II mobile integration works👇

➡️A special thanks goes to Thomas Müller, Robin Künzler, Freddie Rothenberger and Jessie Mongeon.
➡️More info is now shipped to the developer docs.
4️⃣Async Checkpointing demo by Alexsandr Ufimstev
According to Alexsandr,
➡️This aims to improve hadling higher loads and larger state sizes.
➡️The current state of checkpoints👇

➡️Currently the load & state sizes are growing , and the larger it becomes, the longer it takes to create a checkpoint.
➡️Some of the Code has now been refactored to ensure asynchronous checkpointing occurs
➡️Pagemaps [simply stable + heap memory in canisters] now are only utilized when necessary for execution.
➡️The foundation aims to make more stage async in the future, including ones related to the messaging model.
5️⃣Community Demo by Tap Protocol
Markus, The Founder of Tap attended the meeting.
According to Markus,
➡️They are working on on the most programmable, multi asset L1 solution for Bitcoin, while utilzing ICP on the smart contract level.
➡️Tap protocol consists of the following👇

➡️Markus also conducted a demo on how to use tap protocol on a DEX.
Yeah, I know it's kinda lot, but guess what, here I wrap up for the day!
Ofc, big applause to each one of you for staying this far🫡
Now, before we wind up, feel free to share this with everyone who might lack some ICP Alpha, especially to our #MicrosoftBTCInvestmentVote Fam.
I'll see ya tomorrow with your daily dose on all things ICP :)
Until then, Take care👋
