Hace 12 años, #Bitcoin cambió para siempre con su primera mitad.
Las recompensas de bloque se redujeron de 50 BTC a 25 BTC. $BTC
Halving is a process in Bitcoin's protocol that reduces the block reward for miners by half every 210,000 blocks, which is approximately every four years.
Here's how it works:
1. Block reward: Miners compete to solve complex mathematical problems to validate transactions and create new blocks. As a reward for their work, they receive newly minted Bitcoins.
2. Halving event: Every 210,000 blocks, the block reward is cut in half. This event is called the "halving."
3. Reduced supply: The halving reduces the number of new Bitcoins entering circulation, which can lead to increased demand and, potentially, a higher price. $BTC
The halving is designed to:
- Control inflation by reducing the supply of new Bitcoins
- Encourage miners to continue validating transactions despite the reduced reward
- Create a sense of scarcity, which can drive up demand and price
There have been three halving events so far:
1. 2012: Block reward reduced from 50 BTC to 25 BTC
2. 2016: Block reward reduced from 25 BTC to 12.5 BTC
3. 2020: Block reward reduced from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC
The next halving event is expected to occur around 2024. $BTC
