Ethereum, a top blockchain platform, is facing challenges in its transaction supply chain that impact the economic efficiency of its ecosystem. It is currently considering solutions like FOCIL and multi-proposer schemes to address short-term censorship and proposer latency advantages. The current model allows single proposers to have monopoly control over transaction inclusion, which can result in short-term censorship.

FOCIL, a constrained single proposer architecture, aims to tackle this issue. Other challenges include proposer latency advantages, where single proposer systems have an advantage in reacting to new information. Multi-proposer schemes aim to distribute power among multiple proposers, reducing these advantages.

Ethereum’s future will depend on whether it chooses FOCIL for censorship resistance or multi-proposer architectures for addressing market inefficiencies.
