According to TechCrunch, Meta's social network, Threads, has reached a significant milestone with 275 million monthly active users (MAUs), as announced by the company on Sunday. Adam Mosseri, the Meta executive overseeing Threads and Instagram, expressed gratitude to users for their support, acknowledging the platform's rapid growth since its launch in July 2023. Threads was introduced as a text-first social network to attract users leaving X following Elon Musk's acquisition of the platform.
The platform has experienced substantial growth, reaching 150 million MAUs in April and 200 million in August, indicating an increase of 75 million active users in just three months. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted during the company's Q3 2024 post-results conference call that Threads continues to attract new users, with a million people signing up daily. Despite the positive trend in user acquisition, Threads is currently facing challenges related to moderation, which have caused frustration among its user base.
