**Crypto Scammers Miss Payday in High-Profile Social Media Hack**
On September 18, a group of crypto scammers hacked several high-profile social media accounts, including Lenovo India, Yahoo News UK, and Oliver Stone, to promote a Solana memecoin called HACKED. Despite their efforts, they only managed to make around $8,000.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT alerted the community, noting the scammers' unusual tactic of openly admitting the hacks and encouraging users to pump the token. However, this transparency didn't pay off. The HACKED token briefly surged 900% before crashing, leaving the scammers with minimal profits.
ZachXBT suggested that the hacked accounts likely granted permissions to the same site or app. He advised users to regularly revoke permissions for unused apps to avoid similar incidents.
This isn't the first time scammers have targeted social media accounts to promote dubious tokens. Previous attacks have involved influencers and celebrities in the crypto space.
