Mysten Labs, the creator of the Sui blockchain, is targeting the first half of 2025 for deliveries of SuiPlay0X1 — the first handheld gaming device to integrate the Sui blockchain.
The firm said on Sept. 3 that it’s now taking preorders for the $599 device, which will be able to play PC games and games built on the Sui blockchain.
The first batch of devices is expected to ship in the first half of 2025, it added.

“At the end of the day, gamers don’t care what tech is powering a game,” said Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun.
“The SuiPlay0X1 will showcase that games seamlessly incorporating blockchain technology look and feel no different than traditional ‘Web2’ games,” he added.
“It’ll show gamers all over the world that player ownership, thanks to blockchain tech, can provide a deeper and more engaging gaming experience without disrupting their fun."
According to newly released device specifications, SuiPlay0X1 will weigh 677 grams, have an integrated graphics processing unit and use the Playtron GameOS, a Linux-based games operating system that can run many AAA PC games without modification.
Sui-powered games destined for the device include the third-person shooter XOCIETY and the Nordic-inspired medieval Brawler Royale, DARKTIMES.
Mysten Labs, founded by four former Meta crypto executives in 2021, first announced it was working on a new handheld gaming device during a Paris Sui Basecamp event in April.
It however, joins a sizable list of non-web3 handheld gaming PC, such as Valve Corporation’s Steam Deck, the Asus ROG Ally X and the Lenovo Legion Go.
Research from Omidia states there were 19.3 million handheld gaming devices sold globally in 2023, and could increase to 29.3 million units in 2028.
Meanwhile, preorders for the SuiPlay0X1 can be paid in Sui (SUI), Ether (ETH) and Solana (SOL). In a Sept. 3 X post — around 12 hours after the preorder announcement — Sui said there had already been over 1,000 preorders taken for the device.
