Shiba Inu has launched the Web3 version of its Shiba Eternity game on Shibarium, its layer-2 network. The memecoin project marketing lead, Lucie, announced the game on X, noting that it is only available for beta testing at the moment.

Affiliates of Shiba Inu’s project have heralded the launch as a big step in the expansion of its ecosystem. Over the past few years, the memecoin project has claimed its commitment to redefine its core offerings, releasing new products to increase utility.

Shiba Eternity Beta only available to LEASH stakers for now

According to the announcement, only those who staked LEASH tokens will have access to the closed beta version of the game. The Shiba Inu team asked users to stake LEASH a few weeks ago in anticipation of the launch.

The announcement also said the closed beta will only last a short period. It said more users will eventually have access, starting with holders of Shiboshis and Shiba Eternity Lore collection non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by September 5. People who have not staked LEASH cans still do so to gain access.

The open beta will be available to the public at an unannounced date, including those who do not hold LEASH or NFTs.

The Shiba Eternity game is already available as a Web2 version, but the team claims the Web3 version is a complete redesign. Lucie explained that the blockchain version is a complete transition with unique improvements. Its deployment on Shibarium now means the game has NFT-based inventory cards.

Besides that, it also has a ranking mode where users can compete in 15-day tournaments with rewards based on their ranking at the end. There are also seasonal Elite Tournaments exclusively for the Top 25 players in the game.

The game also claims to have improved its reward system with better quests and faster progression. It also advertises a better user experience all around. Meanwhile, Lucie noted that the game is still in beta, which means more improvements are needed based on user feedback.

Meanwhile, several scams have emerged on social media, particularly X, after the new game’s launch. Shibarmy Scam Alerts issued a warning on the beta launch, telling users not to click on any link relating to the game except if it is from the official account.

SHIB rises 4% as community anticipates more burns

Lucie added that the arrival of Shiba Eternity to Shibarium will help boost the burn rate of SHIB and BONE tokens. Playing the game will mean more network activity on Shibarium, translating into more gas fees for token burns.

The community recently celebrated Shibarium’s first anniversary. So far, the network has processed 418 million transactions, but daily volume has leveled at around 4,000 per day over the past month, apart from the transaction surge on August 20. With the game’s arrival, many expect the volume to increase again.

A higher burn rate will reduce the supply of SHIB, and many expect this will make the memecoin’s price appreciate. SHIB is up 4% today, a gain likely to broader market trends rather than events within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. BONE also increased by 4% while LEASH added 3%.
