According to BlockBeats, on July 26, Sui announced via Twitter that its mainnet will integrate the DAG-based consensus algorithm Mysticeti. The upgrade process will unfold in several steps over the coming weeks. The official statement highlighted that Mysticeti achieves consensus on the testnet in 390 milliseconds, with a final settlement time of 640 milliseconds, representing an 80% reduction compared to the Narwhal-Bullshark algorithm. This new algorithm decouples latency from throughput while maintaining high throughput even in the event of network and node failures.

Additionally, Mysticeti allows validators to sign and share blocks without requiring certification. Its submission rules naturally appoint multiple leaders each round, enabling more transactions to be added to the blockchain in advance.
