XDefiant’s executive producer, Mark Rubin, released a statement telling the critics of his newly launched game to “move on.” The statement came after players complained about the game’s bugs on the internet. Mark noted that issues were to be expected with the first release and asked dissatisfied critics to move on.

Following the release of Ubisoft’s XDefiant game, critics were quick to point out the bugs and issues the game faced. This criticism was prevalent online, with a player tagging Mark in an X post and stating that the game seemed rushed to beat other popular titles.

Mark Rubin addresses XDefiant’s bug issues

Mark Rubin, the executive producer of XDefiant, came to the game’s defense in an X post. The outspoken game developer cited that new releases typically have bugs to iron out, and such situations were standard for initial releases. In his post, Rubin spoke up on the difficulty of developing such Live-Person Shooter games, especially with the choice to use Ubisoft’s Snowdrop game engine as a core component of the development process.

According to Rubin, the game’s First-Person Shooter (FPS) infrastructure had to be developed from scratch since the game engine used had been originally developed for something else. Rubin stated that using Ubisoft’s engine resulted in many bugs and issues that were already covered when creating such a game with other engines.

“We’re not a shooter that’s been out for 20 years. If you like what we are trying to do, stick around, and you’ll see things improve, and new features get added. But if the game isn’t for you, that’s ok, you can move on.”

Rubin also pointed out that developers were working round the clock to fix the bugs for all versions of the game. He stated that the team was moving to sort any bugs with fixes and patches to eliminate issues that they missed during the game’s testing phase.

Players rally behind XDefiant 

Mark mentioned that some reported bugs had been fixed while offering players advice on tackling the game. Mark’s vocal nature and his experience as a former lead developer at Call of Duty games have earned him credibility with fans. Rubin acknowledged several posts in which more fans have come out to show their support for the project.

The fans have shown support by calling out some of the game’s critics for their impatience and dismissal of the game. The users praised Rubin and his team for their open interaction and how they addressed the issues. One user stated that Rubin and his team should ignore comments from users who did not know how game development works.

Ubisoft released XDefiant’s first season, the ranked mode, and other game modes this week.  Mark continued to urge players to have faith in the project in another X post reply. He also added that the fixes would be rolled out for the various game platforms, including Xbox, PS5, and PC, as the team was working on issues reported by players.
