Pavel Durov receives a $7 million Notcoin gift from over half a million players and pledges to hold until it reaches $680 million to enhance Telegram infrastructure.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has announced that he will hold onto a $7 million gift of Notcoin until it appreciates by 100 times its current value. This generous contribution came from over half a million players of the viral Telegram-based game, Notcoin, ahead of the NOT token's launch.

In February, more than 552,000 players donated a portion of their in-game coins to Durov as a token of appreciation for creating Telegram, the platform hosting the crypto game. This gesture, organized by the Notcoin development team known as Open Builders, resulted in Durov receiving over 1.03 billion NOT tokens, which amounts to just over 1% of Notcoin's total supply on The Open Network (TON). As of now, those tokens are valued at approximately $7.3 million, up from $6.8 million earlier.

Durov, whose net worth is estimated at $15.5 billion by Forbes, expressed his gratitude but clarified that he has no immediate plans to sell the tokens. He mentioned that he would only consider selling them if their value increases to $680 million, with the intention of using the proceeds to purchase more servers for Telegram.

"Half a million Notcoin users gifted me $6.8 million worth of Notcoin! Thank you," Durov wrote on Telegram. "I will hold these coins until they turn to $680 million, at which point I will use them to buy more servers for Telegram."

Notcoin has made headlines as the most significant gaming token launch of the year, starting with a market cap of nearly $1.5 billion. Despite a 60% drop in value since its debut, bringing the current price to just above $0.0055, NOT remains the 119th most valuable cryptocurrency by market cap at $581 million. Its first 24 hours saw trading volumes exceeding $1 billion. $NOT
