According to Odaily, New York State Representative Ritchie Torres has expressed that U.S. regulatory bodies should focus on overseeing election prediction markets rather than attempting to ban them. In a recent letter to Rostin Behnam, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Torres emphasized the importance of regulating these markets to prevent malicious actors from dominating the space.

Torres suggested that the CFTC should consider developing a regulatory framework for these markets instead of prohibiting their existence within regulated environments. He argued that collaboration between the CFTC and registered entities could enhance the integrity of elections and protect consumers from the risks associated with illegal and unregulated prediction markets. By doing so, Torres believes the CFTC would be more effective in its oversight role.
