According to PANews, Polygon's mainnet upgrade is set for September 4, 2024, following community approval. The upgrade will transition the native token from MATIC to POL. A testnet migration, initiated on July 17, aims to identify and resolve potential issues before the mainnet upgrade. Post-upgrade, POL will replace MATIC as the primary token for gas fees and staking.
