In Proof-of-Work (PoW) networks like eCash, mining difficulty adjusts based on miner activity. But miners often switch between eCash, $BTC, and $BCH to chase profits, leading to:

➡️ Long delays: Slow blocks when miners leave

This "switch mining" creates unpredictable deposit times for users. While this behavior impacts all PoW networks, it hits minority chains like eCash harder due to their smaller share of the total hash rate.

The Solution: Real-Time Targeting

The Heartbeat upgrade dynamically adjusts mining difficulty in real-time. By rejecting blocks mined too quickly, it prevents the turbo block problem and keeps block production steady—closer to the 10-minute target.
