Multicoin Leads $10M Investment for Crypto-Powered CDN Network, Pipe
Permissionless Labs, the innovative company behind Pipe, has secured a $10 million investment led by crypto venture giant Multicoin. Pipe aims to revolutionize content delivery networks (CDNs) by using cryptocurrency incentives to encourage individuals to contribute their computing power for internet infrastructure.
Pipe Network plans to compete with established internet giants like Cloudflare and Akamai by creating a decentralized virtual infrastructure network (DeVIN). This network will use tokens to motivate users to host servers, improving the speed and efficiency of content delivery. By leveraging blockchain technology, specifically the Solana blockchain, Pipe intends to scale CDN nodes rapidly and enhance content delivery across the globe.
The concept is similar to previous decentralized infrastructure models like Helium, which incentivized users to set up wifi routers. With Pipe, individuals will lend their computing power to support a more decentralized and competitive alternative to traditional CDNs.
