Bitcoin remained unfazed by the recent global cyber outage.
The outage resulted in ‘Blue Screen of Death’ on Microsoft powered systems.
Senator Cynthia Lummis highlighted Bitcoin’s resilience and strong infrastructure.
On Friday, computers using Microsoft operating systems worldwide faced their worst nightmare as the ‘Blue Screen of Death’ (BSOD) appeared on numerous systems, disrupting major services like the London Stock Exchange, airlines, media companies, and banks. However, Bitcoin (BTC) and other blockchain networks remained unaffected despite the widespread outage, prompting a response from Senator Cynthia Lummis.
Lummis, the junior United States senator from Wyoming since 2021, is also known as the “crypto queen” for introducing the bipartisan “Responsible Financial Innovation Act” to regulate the digital asset sector and is a strong advocate for Bitcoin (BTC). In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Lummis highlighted that the world’s largest cryptocurrency remained resilient amid the global outage, adding:
“Do you know what form of currency hasn’t been affected by widespread cyber outages? Bitcoin.
Lummis also wrote “Vires in Numeris,” a Latin phrase meaning “the power of numbers” and often used as a slogan for Bitcoin, underscoring its robust infrastructure and strength. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that uses cryptography, which consists of codes with various sequences of numbers. Hence the term, “the power of numbers.”
Lummis has criticized the Joe Biden administration’s failure to enact sound crypto legislation in the U.S. despite key industry figures like Uniswap founder Hayden Adams urging the current president to reconsider his stance on digital assets or risk losing the upcoming elections.
Senator Lummis recently revealed plans to restore the dollar’s dominance through Bitcoin integration. She stated that Bitcoin in reserve “can help the U.S. dollar remain strong.” She also plans to block the Federal Reserve from debuting a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Like presumptive Republican candidate Donald Trump, Lummis also advocates for self-custodial Bitcoin wallets.
