第一阶段是比特币及其工作证明（PoW）挖矿机制，这被视为DePIN的一个基本形式。第二阶段发生在大约四到五年前，当时提出了可信数据基础的概念。这一阶段的目的在于连接不同组织间的物联网设备，并确保这些设备产生的数据的真实性和可信度。第三阶段随着2024年人工智能大型模型的出现而开始，这个阶段需要通过DePIN和硬件来实现分布式存储、计算和数据采集，以适应人工智能带来的生产力革命。

肖风还展望了未来的第四和第五阶段，他相信未来的价值将更加巨大、深远和广泛。

此外，肖风提到了去年发起的绿色比特币联盟，该联盟旨在通过碳中和措施来抵消比特币挖矿过程中产生的电力消耗和碳排放。目前已经有12%的区块实现了碳中和，并且计划在未来10年内实现所有区块的碳中和。

他还指出，DePIN在粤港澳大湾区和长三角地区具有天然优势，因为这些地区是全球智能设备的制造中心。由于所有比特币矿机都是在大湾区制造的，第一代DePIN设备也是在这里制造和分销的，因此可以预见，未来DePIN设备的制造和分销也将主要集中在大湾区。
