Chủ tịch Ủy ban Chứng khoán và Giao dịch Hoa Kỳ (SEC) Gary Gensler đề xuất với các nhà lập pháp rằng cơ quan quản lý có thể phê duyệt các phê duyệt cuối cùng về việc niêm yết và giao dịch cổ phiếu của Ether giao ngay Quỹ giao dịch trao đổi ETHUSD trong vòng ba tháng.
Trong phiên điều trần ngày 13 tháng 6 của Ủy ban Ngân hàng Thượng viện thảo luận về các yêu cầu ngân sách năm 2025 của Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ Joe Biden đối với SEC, Gensler cho biết ông kỳ vọng ủy ban sẽ phê duyệt báo cáo đăng ký S-1 cho các nhà quản lý tài sản “vào khoảng mùa hè này”. Vào ngày 23 tháng 5, SEC đã phê duyệt hồ sơ 19b-4 từ tám công ty, nhưng đơn đăng ký yêu cầu phê duyệt S-1 trước khi ETF có thể bắt đầu giao dịch trên các sàn giao dịch của Hoa Kỳ.
Thượng nghị sĩ bang Tennessee Bill Hagerty đã đặt câu hỏi cho Gensler về lý do tại sao ủy ban chưa “phê duyệt hoàn toàn các ETF Ether”, tuyên bố rằng chủ tịch SEC không ưu tiên một “bộ quy tắc mang tính xây dựng cho ngành công nghiệp tiền điện tử”. Nhà phân tích Eric Balchunas của Bloomberg ETF cho rằng việc tung ra các sản phẩm Ether trên các sàn giao dịch của Mỹ vào tháng 6 là có thể nhưng dự đoán sự chấp thuận cuối cùng của SEC trước ngày 4 tháng 7.
