According to the announcement, the Filecoin Foundation will deploy the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) on a Lockheed Martin satellite. Marta Belcher, chairman of the Filecoin Foundation, said in the announcement that using IPFS, data does not need to be transmitted back and forth across the earth with every click.
