According to Odaily, Taiko has announced that it will upgrade its Taiko BCR mainnet protocol to version 1.7.0 on July 1. This version is compatible with the current Taiko-geth and client version ABI, but includes underlying protocol changes that affect block proposers and validators. The main updates include:
1. The designated validator of a block must also be the proposer.
2. Block validators need to verify whether the stateRoot of existing conversions is zero. If it is, the protocol will only compare blockHash to determine if another conversion is disputed.
3. The validity and dispute guarantees of the liveliness guarantee and SGX proof have been reduced by 50%.
4. Gas optimization has been implemented.
5. The Hekla testnet protocol has been upgraded, which may cause some block proposal and proof transactions to fail. It is recommended that all Hekla block proposers and validators update their transaction parameters as soon as possible.
These changes are expected to enhance the efficiency and security of the Taiko BCR mainnet protocol, ensuring a smoother user experience. The upgrade is a significant step in Taiko's ongoing efforts to improve its blockchain technology.
