🔍Hong Kong's Privacy Commissioner has put the brakes on Worldcoin's operations, citing violations of the Privacy Ordinance. The crypto project's fondness for iris and facial scans has been deemed unnecessary and a tad too 'Big Brother' for comfort. The investigation also revealed that Worldcoin was holding onto sensitive biometric data for up to 10 years, just for AI model training. With 8,302 individuals already scanned, it's clear Worldcoin has been seeing a lot more than dollar signs in people's eyes. This comes as a blow for the project, which had over 2 million sign-ups before its official launch in 2023.
