Telegram is integrating Tether (USDT) stablecoins and mini-apps into its platform, enabling its 900 million users to engage with cryptocurrency seamlessly. Developers can now launch ecommerce, games, and other business activities on The Open Network’s (TON’s) layer-1 blockchain more smoothly. The integration of Tether on TON eliminates the need for users to acquire different types of crypto or tokens. This move is expected to boost the creator economy already thriving on TON and Telegram. The TON Foundation, which took over the project in 2021, is returning to its original vision after its initial coin offering was halted in 2020 due to opposition from the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
