SEC Punts on New York Stock Exchange Bitcoin ETF Options
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission delayed a decision on allowing spot Bitcoin ETFs options on the New York Stock Exchange, extending the review period to the end of May 2024. The SEC faces criticism for its delays, impacting its credibility, according to finance professor James Angel. The SEC's approval of Bitcoin Futures ETFs contrasts with the stalled progress of Bitcoin ETF approvals due to bureaucracy. Despite approving spot Bitcoin ETFs in January, the SEC has yet to approve spot Ethereum ETFs, including proposals from Invesco, Galaxy Digital, and Ark/21Shares.
