VeChain, a leading enterprise-grade blockchain platform, and EasyA, a Web3 educational mobile app, have announced a hackathon to be held at the University of Cambridge on March 16th and 17th, 2024.

TLDR

  • VeChain and EasyA are hosting a hackathon at the University of Cambridge with participation from BCG on March 16-17, 2024.

  • The hackathon will focus on developing applications for VeChain’s new VeBetterDAO ecosystem and addressing issues in the automotive industry.

  • A pre-hackathon event on March 11th will feature a panel discussion, workshop, and networking session on sustainable technology.

  • The hackathon will have two tracks, one focused on the automotive industry and the other on sustainability-focused X-2-Earn applications in the VeBetterDAO ecosystem.

  • Participants will compete for a portion of the $30,000 prize pool and access to additional funding, mentorship, and VC opportunities.

The event, which will also see participation from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), aims to stimulate the development of applications within VeChain’s recently launched VeBetterDAO ecosystem and address challenges in the automotive industry.

Ahead of the main event, a pre-hackathon workshop will be held on March 11th, featuring a panel discussion on sustainable technology, a workshop, and a networking session.

The hackathon itself will be divided into two tracks, with one focused on developing solutions for the automotive industry and the other on creating sustainability-focused “X-2-Earn” applications within the VeBetterDAO ecosystem.

VeBetterDAO is a new circular ecosystem powered by VeChain, designed to incentivize sustainable activities and drive global change through collective impact.

Participants in the hackathon will compete for a share of the $30,000 prize pool and have the opportunity to access additional funding to further develop their projects.

Winners will also gain access to VeChain grants, marketing and community support, professional mentorship, and venture capital opportunities.

The event will feature talks from Sunny Lu, CEO of VeChain, Antonio Senatore, CTO of VeChain, and Dr. Bernhard Kronfellner, Partner and co-lead of the digital asset and blockchain group at BCG, who will also serve as judges for the competition.

Lu emphasized the importance of the hackathon in spurring the development of the VeBetterDAO ecosystem, which aims to empower developers to create use cases that encourage enterprises and individuals to adopt more sustainable practices.

Dr. Kronfellner highlighted the significance of designing applications that address industry-specific problems while incorporating sustainability, a growing priority for businesses.

The hackathon follows the success of a previous event held at Harvard University in October, organized by VeChain, EasyA, and BCG.

Future hackathons will continue to focus on specific industries, with VeChain collaborating with enterprises and developers to ideate sustainable solutions to pressing issues in each sector.

This approach aligns with VeChain’s commitment to leveraging blockchain technology to create real-world value and drive positive change.

The hackathon at the University of Cambridge presents an opportunity for rising talent to develop applications with tangible impact, contributing to VeChain’s mission of fostering global sustainability through its Web3 ecosystem.
