DID YOU HEAR ABOUT BITMAP?

But first we need to dive into the fundamentals! What is BRC-20?

BRC-20 uses ordinal inscription and is an experimental token standard. It was launched by an anonymous developer Domo on March 09, 2023. BRC-20 tokens are fungible tokens that are native to Bitcoin. Interestingly, unlike popular token standards on EVM blockchains, the BRC-20 standard does not use smart contracts; instead, it allows users to store a script file on Bitcoin and use that to associate tokens with specific satoshis. To deploy, mint, and transfer tokens, users can use BRC-20 tokens, which embed JSON data into ordinal inscriptions.

Despite being only an experimental fungible token, BRC-20 tokens have generated a lot of interest in the Bitcoin community. BRC-20 has begun to be integration by ordinals infrastructure providers, such as wallet services and marketplaces, to allow their users to create and trade BRC-20 tokens.

Use cases of BRC-20 tokens

  • Peer-to-peer transfers

One of the most significant and basic things which can is done by BRC-20 token is to transfer the token to your peers as an indication of value transfer. These tokens can utilize the functionality of Bitcoin and can be moved or transferred to various wallets irrespective of the location of each wallet. Moreover, BRC-20 tokens take over the level of efficiency used by Bitcoins and transaction fees are charged natively in Bitcoin.

YOU NEED A BRC-20 WALLET! MOST COMMON ONE IS "UniSat"

Overview

UniSat Developer Service is open to community developers, allowing you to explore the world of Bitcoin and ordinals. You can deploy your own inscribing services, build wallet applications, develop browsers, and much more using the API.

What is UniSat?

Along with that is the appearance of many wallet projects (wallets) to support users to access Bitcoin’s NFT and DeFi ecosystem. UniSat Wallet, which officially went into operation on April 23, is the earliest BRC-20-supported wallet.

The overall consensus was that although Bitcoin may be used for payment, it is not required and should not be utilized as an ecology. UniSat was working on integrating BRC-20 while everyone was enthused with the Bitcoin picture NFT.

UniSat Wallet is an open-source Chrome addon for storing and transferring Ordinals NFTs and BRC-20 tokens. Ordinals NFTs are non-fungible tokens inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain via the Ordinal Protocol. BRC-20 tokens are fungible tokens that may be used on the Bitcoin network. UniSat Wallet allows you to instantly observe unconfirmed NFTs, inscribe on-the-fly without operating a complete node, and store, mint, and transfer BRC-20 tokens. UniSat Wallet is also the official Ordinal Protocol wallet.

NOW WHAT IS BITMAP?

Imagine Bitcoin as a giant book filled with pages, each page representing a block in the blockchain. Bitmap is like a special pen that lets you write on these pages, claiming ownership of them and adding your own unique mark.

Just like you can own a piece of land in the real world, Bitmap lets you own a piece of digital land in the metaverse. This digital land can be anything from a virtual plot of land to a custom-designed avatar.

By inscribing your data onto a Bitcoin block, you're creating a permanent record of your ownership, much like a deed for a physical property. This record is stored on the blockchain, which is super secure and can't be tampered with.

Bitmap is still a new idea, but it has the potential to revolutionize how we own and interact with digital assets in the metaverse. It's like having your own piece of digital real estate, where you can build, customize, and trade virtual properties.

Think of it as a way to bring the security and permanence of Bitcoin to the ever-evolving world of the metaverse. It's like owning a piece of digital history, a unique mark on the ever-expanding blockchain landscape.

So, if you're into virtual worlds, digital ownership, and the concept of owning a piece of the metaverse, then Bitmap is definitely worth keeping an eye on. It could be the next big thing in the digital realm.
