Breaking: Bungee Protocol Hacked! $6 Million in Funds Vanished – What You Need to Know!

Interoperability protocol Socket announced on Tuesday that it has halted affected contracts following reports of an exploit impacting the Bungee bridging aggregator it develops, resulting in a theft of up to $6 million. The security incident involved wallets with infinite approvals to Socket contracts. The project's team identified the issue and paused the affected contracts at 3:15 p.m. ET. The incident was initially noticed an hour earlier by an anonymous researcher, Spreek, who observed millions being siphoned. The attacker's address was highlighted, and users were advised to revoke approvals for Socket immediately. The attack appears to have ceased around 2:47 p.m. ET. Within just over an hour, the reported wallet received over $6 million in various stablecoins and cryptocurrencies, which were subsequently sent to decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and 1inch.
