According to Odaily, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr marked the seventh anniversary of the Segregated Witness (SegWit) implementation by expressing concerns about the current state of the Bitcoin community. In a post on X, Dashjr highlighted that seven years ago, the Bitcoin community initiated SegWit despite Bitcoin Core's refusal to allow decision-making beyond miners. He drew parallels between that situation and the present challenges faced during spam filter updates. Dashjr lamented that the community has largely become complacent or brainwashed, failing to take necessary actions. He emphasized that Bitcoin should not blindly trust a centralized maintenance team, as fiat currencies do. Decentralization, he argued, requires active users who make their own decisions.
