Sonic SVM to launch with 2.4 billion SONIC tokens, 360 million available at TGE.
SONIC tokens include a 12-month cliff, 24-month vesting for early backers.
57% of SONIC supply allocated to community and ecosystem development.
Sonic Foundation has revealed all the information about the SONIC tokens with the token economy in anticipation of the mainnet launch. The tokenomics setup aims to outline the scalability, security, and adoption aspects of Sonic SVM along with the use of SONIC in its unique ecosystem.
SONIC Token Allocation and Initial Supply
The Sonic Foundation plans to release 360 million SONIC tokens at the Token Generation Event (TGE) on January 7, 2025. The token’s total supply capped at 2.4 billion, with allocations strategically ensuring long-term ecosystem growth.

Fifty-seven percent of the supply goes to the community, supporting ecosystem development and rewarding active contributors. Thirty percent of SONIC tokens are set aside for game developers and dApp creators active in the Sonic ecosystem. These grants incentivize innovative projects that foster network engagement and user growth. Seven percent of SONIC is set aside to reward top contributors and early backers through exclusive airdrops.
Twenty percent of the token supply will benefit validator and observation node operators, strengthening the security and performance of the Sonic network. Eight percent allocated to early supporters who contributed to the project during its initial stages. These tokens are subject to a 12-month cliff followed by a 24-month vesting schedule to ensure gradual distribution.
Utility and Roadmap for SONIC Token
The SONIC token serves as a versatile asset within the Sonic ecosystem. It acts as a payment currency across various platforms, facilitates staking rewards for network security, and enables governance voting to encourage community participation. Sonic’s infrastructure, powered by the Sonic HyperGrid, introduces horizontal scaling for faster transactions and seamless integration with decentralized applications.
The roadmap outlines three critical phases, starting with the Network Genesis phase in late 2024 and the Mainnet Alpha launch in early 2025. Key features such as bridges, decentralized exchanges, and NFT programs will launch alongside initiatives that enhance network security and validator engagement. Phase three will focus on expanding the ecosystem with upgraded scalability solutions and staking rewards programs.
Final Opportunity for Airdrop Eligibility
The foundation confirmed it allocated 7% of the total SONIC supply for the Initial Claim. Users must log into SonicX via TikTok by January 6, 2025, for a final chance at the SONIC airdrop. Eligible participants can verify their status using the eligibility checker available from January 3, 2025.
