Hello, Tezos Community! As the glow of Thanksgiving fades into the excitement of December, we’ve got some radioactive news to share with you—pun intended. This week’s edition marks a breakthrough for Tezos: uranium trading has officially gone live on our blockchain. Just as uranium fuels the core of nuclear energy, this development ignites a whole new way of thinking about real-world asset tokenization and blockchain adoption.
Lock in, because we’re diving deep into how Tezos is powering this critical market transformation and what it means for the future of decentralized trading. Let’s get glowing!
Tezos Powers Uranium Trading with Uranium.io
Imagine holding a piece of one of the world’s most powerful energy sources—uranium—directly in your Tezos wallet. That’s now a reality with the launch of Uranium.io, a marketplace built on Tezos. Uranium.io, a decentralized marketplace, is opening a new chapter for investors worldwide. Built on Etherlink, the Tezos-powered EVM-compatible Layer 2, this platform simplifies access to the uranium market, breaking down barriers and introducing a seamless way to trade physical uranium (U3O8, or “yellowcake”). This collaboration is backed by industry leaders Curzon Uranium, Archax, and Cameco, ensuring trust, transparency, and scalability.
Why uranium? As the backbone of nuclear energy, uranium is poised to play an increasingly critical role in achieving net-zero emissions and supporting the energy demands of AI-driven infrastructure. While nuclear energy offers immense promise, access to uranium has traditionally been confined to a select few. Uranium.io changes that, leveraging the Tezos blockchain to introduce tokenized uranium trading with features designed for simplicity and accessibility.
What You Need to Know About Uranium.io: “The Atomic Rundown”
- Fractional Ownership: Forget massive lot sizes—investors can now buy and sell with no minimum spend.
- On-Chain Transparency: Smart contracts ensure immutable ownership records and streamlined trade settlements.
- 24/7 Global Trading: Trade anytime, anywhere, with real-time access to the uranium market.
- Regulatory-Grade Infrastructure: Supported by Curzon Uranium, Archax, and Cameco, ensuring seamless compliance and security.
- AI and Nuclear Energy Synergy: With growing energy demands from AI infrastructure, uranium is positioned to be a cornerstone of sustainable energy.
Why Tezos? The Backbone of Uranium.io
The marketplace’s choice to utilize Tezos was no coincidence. Tezos’ commitment to efficiency, security, and scalability made it the ideal blockchain to support uranium trading. As a Proof-of-Stake network, Tezos ensures minimal environmental impact while delivering the reliability needed for such a regulated and sensitive asset.
Arthur Breitman, Co-Founder of Tezos, emphasized the importance of this milestone:
“Real-world assets on-chain are compelling when they meaningfully reduce friction or enable new economic arrangements. The launch of Uranium.io on Tezos is a perfect example—transforming a market previously restricted by massive lot sizes and OTC overhead into something accessible and composable. This is particularly exciting as nuclear power is experiencing a revival.”
With partnerships from leaders like Curzon Uranium, Archax, and Cameco, Uranium.io sets a high bar for blockchain-powered marketplaces. The platform's role extends beyond uranium—it represents a broader movement toward real-world asset tokenization. Analysts project this market could unlock trillions of dollars in asset value by 2030, and Tezos is firmly positioned to lead this wave of adoption.
By bridging accessibility gaps, enhancing transparency, and streamlining transactions, Uranium.io isn’t just reshaping uranium trading—it’s showcasing how Tezos can redefine industries.

Tezos at Miami Art Week
Coming off the heels of the Uranium announcement, Tezos continued to show its versatility—not just in energy markets, but also in the arts. Miami Art Week was a testament to this, bringing together artists, collectors, and enthusiasts under one creative roof. If you were there, you’d have felt the electric buzz of digital art colliding with Tezos-powered possibilities. Let me walk you through the highlights.
Art on Tezos: A Natural Synergy
One of the standout presentations came from LaCollection and objkt.com. They teamed up to showcase MLOdotArt's work—a powerful critique on how art and currency shape our society. Walking through the exhibit felt like stepping into a conversation, with each piece daring you to rethink your relationship with money, culture, and technology.
Victoria West’s “EVE: The Power of Growth & Resistance” took a different approach. It was a celebration of creation’s resilience, with works from Andressa Furletti, Violet Bond, and West herself. You could see how each piece reflected an enduring spirit, one that art so beautifully captures.
And then there was Apotheosis, curated by Nilus Dante via Shillr.xyz. The range of styles from artists like Cassi Moghan, Nasim Ghanizadeh, and Rob Evans made this exhibit feel like a kaleidoscope of perspectives. If anything, it was a reminder that the digital canvas is as diverse as the artists who paint on it.
Conversations That Count
Beyond the exhibitions, the panels gave attendees plenty to think about. The Paintboxed panel, part of the launch for the Paintboxed Tezos World Tour, stood out to me. Hearing Trilitech’s Alja Paris discuss how tools like the Quantel Paintbox paved the way for today’s digital creators was eye-opening.
Another highlight was the discussion on Integrating Digital Art into Institutions. It’s one thing to talk about blockchain as a tool for creators, but to hear about its growing acceptance in museums and galleries? That’s a whole new level. Vinciane Jones of Trilitech shared how these projects are reshaping what’s possible, alongside input from Chris Cummings and Elena Zavelev.
The Tezos Effect
What struck me most was the sense of collaboration. Whether it was the glowing LED displays at Superchief x Scope or the intimate panels, everything felt connected—not just through Tezos, but through the shared excitement for what’s next in digital art.
Miami Art Week reminded me why so many of us are drawn to this ecosystem. It’s not just about the tech; it’s about the stories, the people, and the moments we get to share. For those who couldn’t make it, I highly recommend keeping an eye on the upcoming stops of the Paintboxed Tezos World Tour. If it’s anything like Miami, it’ll be worth every second.

Tezos Governance Update: Quebec is locked in!
Lastly in headlines for this week, the time has come for the Tezos community, the Quebec protocol upgrade has achieved both supermajority approval and quorum! Marking its acceptance for implementation into the Tezos protocol. This success comes after three previous attempts, underscoring the community's dedication to refining and advancing the network.
Understanding the Cooldown Phase
With the successful vote, Quebec now enters the Cooldown period—a designated timeframe that allows for thorough review and testing of the proposed changes. During this phase, community members and developers have the opportunity to:
Conduct Comprehensive Testing: Deploying the new protocol version on test networks to identify and address potential issues.
Update Infrastructure: Ensuring that baking and other operational infrastructures are compatible with the upcoming changes.
Engage in Community Discussions: Facilitating dialogues to clarify any concerns and to prepare for a smooth transition.
This period is crucial for maintaining the stability and security of the Tezos network as it prepares for the final adoption of the upgrade.
Next Steps in the Governance Process
Following the Cooldown period, the Quebec proposal will move into the Promotion Vote Period. In this final voting stage, bakers will cast their votes to determine whether the upgrade should be officially activated on the mainnet. Historically, proposals that have met the supermajority and quorum requirements in earlier phases have successfully passed the Promotion Vote, provided no critical issues arise during the Cooldown.
The robust governance mechanism on Tezos continues to exemplify effective decentralized decision-making, paving the way for continuous and seamless upgrades and enabling Tezos to remain the leader in blockchain tech.
Key Features of the Quebec Proposal:
8-Second Block Times: Reduces block time from 10 to 8 seconds, enhancing transaction speed and user experience.
Adaptive Maximum Issuance: Introduces mechanisms to prevent excessive tez issuance when the staked ratio is near the target, promoting economic stability.
Delegation Power Adjustment: Modifies the computation of baking power for delegated funds, reducing their weight from 50% to 33% to encourage decentralization.
Increased External Stake Limit: Raises the cap on external stake a baker can accept from 5x to 9x their own stake, fostering greater participation and network security.
As the proposal moves forward, it's crucial for bakers to remain engaged and cast their votes to ensure the quorum is met and the amendment process continues smoothly. There are still only 2 days remaining, so Bakers please vote if you haven’t.
