While the company has not indicated plans to include stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies, the Annual Pass offers unlimited cruises for a year on a limited, first-come-first-served basis.
Inspired by the success of its "Season Pass" initiative, which catered to remote workers, this new offering signals Virgin Voyages' innovative approach to luxury travel.
Virgin Group founder Richard Branson noted:
“What started as a sought-after 'work from sea' concept with our Season Pass has evolved into something even more special. Now, Sailors can jump aboard any of our ships, across an endless variety of exciting destinations for an entire year. We're offering unlimited opportunities for adventure in a way that has never been done in cruising before.”
Flexible Payment Options for Customers
Virgin Voyages' newly launched "Annual Pass" offers passengers the freedom to sail on any ship, anytime, and from anywhere for an entire year.
Priced at approximately £94,689 ($120,000) excluding taxes and fees, this exclusive pass is available on a first-come, first-served basis until 31 March 2025.
Once purchased, the pass secures a sea terrace spot for unlimited voyages over the calendar year.
Travel agents stand to earn commissions of up to £7,890 ($10,000) for each Annual Pass sold.
The Annual Pass offers double-occupancy access to a Sea Terrace cabin complete with a private balcony, laundry service, internet, and a $100 bar tab per voyage.
While it may not mirror the extravagant yachts-and-Lamborghinis image promoted by some crypto influencers, it does present a luxurious and unique opportunity for high-net-worth crypto enthusiasts.
The introduction of Bitcoin as a payment option reflects Virgin Voyages' commitment to flexibility and its appeal to younger, tech-savvy travelers.

By embracing cryptocurrency, the company aligns with the financial preferences of millennials and Gen Z, known for their adoption of digital assets due to their ease and accessibility.
Virgin Voyages' fleet, including ships like Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady, already caters to these demographics with shorter Caribbean-focused itineraries and modern onboard amenities.
Adding Bitcoin payments further enhances its appeal.
As the first cruise line to accept cryptocurrency, Virgin Voyages leads the travel industry in adopting innovative payment solutions.
This bold move follows similar efforts by platforms like Travala, which enable crypto payments for hotels and flights, but stands out as the first in the cruise sector.

Founded by Branson, the company's embrace of Bitcoin could inspire other Virgin ventures to follow suit, signalling a broader shift toward the future of finance.
Crypto Out at Sea
Virgin Voyages' decision to integrate Bitcoin, the world's most popular cryptocurrency by transaction volume, into its ecosystem could send ripples through the travel industry.
While many organisations have dabbled in cryptocurrency and blockchain for payments, Virgin’s move stands out, potentially capturing the attention of crypto "whales" — individuals with substantial digital assets capable of six-figure expenditures.
Targeting entrepreneurs, executives, and independently wealthy individuals within the crypto community could position Virgin Voyages as a pioneer in cross-industry collaboration.
Whether this venture will chart a course toward success or face uncharted turbulence remains to be seen.
