Bitcoin for Beers

Back in the early days of Bitcoin, a Finnish man named Martti Malmi—one of Bitcoin’s earliest developers—was looking to cash out some of his BTC. But back then, there weren’t many ways to exchange Bitcoin for real money. So, he did what any practical person would do: he sold 5,050 BTC for $5 to buy a few beers.

Years later, that stash would have been worth over $100 million at Bitcoin’s peak. Martti, now known as “the guy who traded a fortune for a few pints,” still laughs about it, saying it was the most expensive beer he’s ever had!
