Key highlights:

  • Catizen, a Telegram-based play-to-earn game, is set to launch its CATI token on Sep. 20, with simultaneous listings on major exchanges like Binance, KuCoin, Bybit, Gate.io, and LBank.

  • Premarket trading sees CATI prices ranging from $0.72 to $0.75 on most exchanges, with an outlier price of $1.56 on LBank, despite high liquidity.

  • Historical data shows that the listing price is usually close to the premarket price, meaning that we could very well see CATI’s eventual listing price be about $1.

Catizen is a viral Telegram game that is planning to launch its token CATI on September 20th. The token will simultaneously be listed on several cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, Gate.io, Bybit, LBank, and KuCoin, to name a few.

The listing on September 20th will follow a 4-day campaign on Binance Launchpool, where users will be able to stake their BNB and FDUSD to earn CATI token rewards. In total, Binance users will be able to farm 305 million CATI tokens during the Launchpool campaign.

With the game having more than 16 million active players, it’s no wonder that many players are wondering what the price of CATI will be when it finally starts trading on exchanges. Well, a look at current premarket trading activity can offer a glimpse into potential market activity post-listing.

Catizen is currently trading as high as $1.56 in the premarket

Interestingly, Catizen is changing hands in the $0.72 to $0.75 range on 3 exchanges that currently list CATI in their premarket offering. These exchanges are KuCoin, Bybit, and Gate.io. In fact, there’s only one outlier out of the exchanges that offer CATI premarket trading, and that’s LBank. At the moment, a single CATI token can be sold for over $1.50 on the exchange.

While the outlier price on LBank is a bit strange, it cannot be attributed to low liquidity causing price spikes. According to exchange data, more than $10 million has been traded in a USDT premarket spot trading pair against CATI. In other words, it’s not exactly clear why the Catizen price is so much higher on LBank than on other exchanges.

Exchange Premarket CATI Price KuCoin $0.75 Bybit $0.72 Gate.io $0.73 LBank $1.56

Collected on Sep. 16.

According to the exchange data available as of September 16, a single CATI token has an average price of $0.94. At this price, Catizen, with its 350 million circulating supply, would command a market cap of $329 million. For context, this market cap would rank CATI at 134th place, ahead of Mog Coin (MOG) and just behind Astar (ASTR).

What do past premarket projects tell us about potential Catizen listing price

To gain a better sense of the relationship between premarket activity and eventual listing price, we’ve examined 5 projects that have been listed this year, after trading in the premarket.

We’ve collected data from Bybit and KuCoin since they offer information about closed premarket projects. It’s worth noting that the premarket prices collected are average prices calculated over the duration of each respective project.

  Bybit Premarket KuCoin Premarket Listing Price LayerZero $4.12 $3.73 $6.21 io.net $3.64 $4.02 $4.55 Notcoin $0.0069 $0.0015 $0.0071 Wormhole $0.13 $1.68 $1.35 Ethena $0.41 $0.69 $0.55

We can see that most tokens actually started trading above their premarket average prices after getting listed on major exchange.

It’s also worth noting that listing prices are inflated, and tokens lose a substantial amount of their value after mere hours of getting listed. It’s not uncommon for tokens to lose as much as 80% of their value or more in the first couple of days after being listed.

However, given the massive player base behind Catizen and general excitement surrounding Telegram-based games as of late, we won’t be surprised if CATI starts trading close to $1 and manages to avoid massive price drops immediately after listing.
