The Polygon's upgrade from MATIC to POL will begin on 4th September 2024! POL will become the new gas and staking token for the Polygon network! Its utility will increase, especially through the AggLayer. The AggLayer will help POL to become the key token that powers and connects all the parts of Polygon ecosystem by sharing resources and improving things like speed, security and efficiency! POL is expected to support more functions in the future, such as block generation and ZK (zero-knowledge) proof generation! Also, POL will be more community-driven, with its emission rates and utility being adjusted by the community when needed!

In my opinion, POL will bring more capabilities, broader use cases and greater community involvement.
