The cyber attack on WazirX resulted in the theft of over $230 million worth of cryptocurrencies, including SHIB, ETH, MATIC, PEPE, and USDT. The hackers targeted a multisig wallet, which is designed to enhance security by requiring multiple keys for transactions.
Elliptic, a blockchain investigation firm, believes North Korean hackers were responsible for the attack, which took place on July 18, 2024. Currently, the stolen funds are being liquidated on Uniswap, an on-chain exchange.
