**University of Wyoming Launches Bitcoin Research Institute**

The University of Wyoming is set to open the UW Bitcoin Research Institute this August. Spearheaded by Bitcoin advocate and Associate Professor Bradley Rettler, the institute aims to elevate the quality of Bitcoin research through peer-reviewed studies.

Rettler criticized current Bitcoin research as inadequate, citing a flawed 2018 study on Bitcoin emissions. He emphasized the need for accurate academic work to inform the public and policymakers.

The institute will feature summer workshops, academic prizes, and weekly seminars. It’s a nonprofit accepting Bitcoin donations, with a commitment to retain the donated Bitcoin.

Wyoming is emerging as a Bitcoin hub, driven by pro-Bitcoin figures like Senator Cynthia Lummis and Caitlin Long. Lummis recently proposed a bill for the US to reserve 5% of all Bitcoin to help reduce national debt.

The Bitcoin Research Institute aims to be a cornerstone in advancing Bitcoin knowledge and policy.
