Polygon Announces Production Readiness of Its Plonky3 ZK Proving Technology
Polygon has announced that its new zero-knowledge (ZK) proving system, Plonky3, is now ready for use and is open-source under the MIT/Apache license. This system allows blockchains and applications to prove transactions and states using advanced cryptography. Plonky3 supports the Ethereum ecosystem, offering high throughput and low gas fees through Polygon zkEVM.
The system's modularity makes it easy for developers to integrate and customize, fostering innovation.Plonky3 has been adopted by projects like Valida and Succinct Labs’ SP1, indicating its widespread utility. It allows developers to balance computation speed and proof size based on their needs. The upgrade from Plonky2 introduces more flexibility, as Plonky2 was focused on hardware optimization.
Polygon's release of Plonky3 demonstrates its commitment to open-source ZK technology, enabling the development of advanced dApps.
