**Helium Mobile Expands Decentralized Network**

Helium Mobile, a decentralized mobile and wireless network, has shared its first progress update since June. Key highlights include expanded coverage, increased compatibility with third-party hardware, and pilot programs with other telecom carriers to explore network interoperability.

Helium's licensing program is enabling hardware developers to create network-compatible devices like routers and hotspots. RAKwireless is the first to leverage this with its MNTD.FI Pro mobile hotspot, available in the U.S.

Additionally, Helium is working on facilitating crossover with other wireless carriers through the OpenRoaming framework. Early 2024 saw a partnership with Telefónica to expand coverage in Mexico, benefiting subscribers in Mexico City and Oaxaca.

Decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePin) are gaining attention, with the sector showing impressive returns. Advocates believe these networks can disrupt traditional utilities by lowering entry barriers and decentralizing control.
