According to BlockBeats, the U.S. House of Representatives, controlled by the Republican Party, voted on Tuesday to block a challenge to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policy. This vote undermined efforts led by Washington State Democratic Representative Suzan DelBene, who sought to challenge tariffs imposed on Canada and Mexico.
DelBene aimed to force a vote under the National Emergencies Act to revoke the President's emergency powers. For the resolution to take effect, it would also need approval from the Senate. The vote on Tuesday altered the House's calculation of the remaining calendar days for 2025, effectively preventing such votes from occurring this year.
