Base Secures $5M in OP Incentives to Boost DeFi Projects 💰

The #Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution, Base, announced this morning that its application for 3 million OP tokens (approximately $5 million) in incentives has been approved by Optimism Governance. Base stated that these funds will be used to launch an incentive program aimed at rewarding DeFi projects built on Base that contribute to increasing the total value locked (TVL) in ETH and BTC.

#Base emphasized that in the first year, they have already contributed 2,625 ETH (about $6.7 million) in revenue to the Superchain and have accounted for over 70% of the transaction volume. Base also mentioned that the specific details of the #incentive program will be announced soon, but they clarified that there will be no incentives for specific pools or user activities.
