Проект Mehen Finance запустил на Cardano привязанный к доллару США стейблкоин USDM, хотя и со значительной задержкой.

Механизм USDM позволяет выпускать и погашать актив через доллар. Это отличается от уже работающих на Cardano «стабильных монет» Djed и iUSD, которые являются алгоритмическими и синтетическими соответственно.

Команда Mehen Finance опубликовала white paper стейблкоина в ноябре 2022 года.

Партнер-основатель проекта Мэтью Пломин в ходе сессии AMA в X Spaces подтвердил, что запуск монеты планировался на 2023 год. Однако все изменилось с возникновением проблем у региональных банков США, когда примерно год назад закрылись Silicon Valley Bank, Silvergate и Signature Bank.

По словам Пломина, оставшийся банковский партнер Mehen — Cross River — также разорвал связи, переключившись на сотрудничество с Circle, эмитентом второго по капитализации стейблкоина USDC.
