On May 17th, according to official emails, the deadline for FTX clients to submit claims will be extended to coincide with the voting deadline for approval of the bankruptcy protection restructuring plan by US program creditors. Although the new deadline has not yet been determined, FTX Digital and the official liquidator expect the deadline to be at the end of July or early August.
FTX clients can choose to participate in either the Bahamian program or the US program, but cannot participate in both programs at the same time. Clients will receive disclosure documents in June that explain the impact of participating in either program and will have 6-8 weeks from the date of disclosure to make a final decision. Although there may be some differences between the Bahamian and US programs, it is expected that clients will receive the same distribution shares at the same time.

Bitcoin rose above $66,000 on Friday, reversing a dip below $65,000 the day before. The CoinDesk 20 Index also increased by about 1.4%. Inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs have been positive for four consecutive days, and several institutional players have disclosed significant BTC ETF holdings. Meanwhile, Coinbase has said that Ether has potential to surprise to the upside, due to its lack of significant sources of supply side overhangs and its position as the center of DeFi. The Fantom blockchain's FTM has gained 13% in the past week, thanks to the roll-out of its Sonic upgrade and increases in the total value locked on the protocol.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that policy director Heather Slavkin Corzo will be leaving the agency. Corey Klemmer, who recently served as a corporate finance advisor to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, has been appointed as the new policy director. "Heather has been one of my most trusted advisors over the past three years," Gensler said. "She provided reliable counsel and managed a policy agenda that strengthened protections for the investing public and, through various accomplishments from money market fund reform to shortening settlement cycles to enhancing corporate disclosure of significant cybersecurity events, enhanced capital formation pathways for issuers. I wish her well."
