According to PANews, Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, stated that the current electricity usage by artificial intelligence (AI) accounts for only a small fraction of global electricity demand, approximately 1.5%. There remains significant uncertainty about how this figure will evolve in the future. By 2035, AI's electricity demand is expected to constitute a few percentage points of the overall substantial increase in electricity demand. While AI will contribute to the growth in electricity consumption, it will not be the primary driving factor.
