According to Odaily, the notorious wallet theft group, Inferno Drainer, attempted to transfer its stolen 174.1261 WETH, equivalent to approximately $533,000, via the privacy protocol Railgun. However, Railgun blocked this action and blacklisted the associated address, forcing the tokens to be sent back to Inferno's original wallet address.

Alan Scott Jr, a contributor to Railgun, stated that Inferno maliciously tried to use the Ethereum-based privacy protocol, but was rejected by Railgun's automated Private Proof of Innocence (Private POI) system. Scott explained, 'Once the Private POI system is activated, these tokens can only be returned to the attacker's address.'
