According to U.Today, today marks the 16th anniversary of the first email exchange between Satoshi Nakamoto and Adam Back, the inventor of Hashcash. On August 20, 2008, Satoshi reached out to Back to discuss what would eventually become Bitcoin. This email is considered the first recorded communication between the two regarding the cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo highlighted this milestone, noting that the email thread, which includes five emails between Nakamoto and Back, was made public earlier this year as part of official court documents in the United Kingdom. The initial email from Satoshi to Back occurred four months before Bitcoin's official launch. The following day, on August 21, 2008, Back responded, suggesting that Satoshi look into a paper called 'B-money' by Wei Dei, a cryptographer known for his work on digital cash.

Subsequent emails between Satoshi and Back included discussions about the B-money idea and other related topics. In the third email, Satoshi thanked Back, and they further discussed the concept. In the fourth email, Back apologized for not reading the Bitcoin whitepaper and directed Satoshi to another paper called 'Micromint.' The final email in the thread was sent on October 1, 2009, where Satoshi thanked Back again and informed him about Bitcoin's formal software release. According to Back's public statements, he did not revisit Bitcoin until late 2012.

In other news, cryptocurrencies have extended their rebound initiated earlier this week. Bitcoin topped $61,000 in Tuesday's trading session, rising above the $56,000 floor that has supported it for much of this year. The price of Bitcoin was last higher by 2.78% at $60,541, according to CoinMarketCap. Ethereum also advanced by 2% to $2,640, while several other cryptocurrencies are trading in the green. Dogwifhat's WIF token increased by 17%, and PEPE advanced by 11% in the last 24 hours.
