Solana improves transparency to fix validator games

Solana’s staking protocol Jito has launched a new tool called the IBRL Explorer to bring more transparency into how Solana blocks are built. The goal is to highlight and reduce unhealthy validator behaviors like “late packing,” where transactions are pushed to the end of a slot, and “slot timing games,” where validators stretch slot times to gain an advantage.
The explorer breaks down each block using three simple metrics: Slot Time, Vote Packing, and Non-Vote Packing. These are combined into a single IBRL Score that shows how well a validator follows fair and efficient block construction rules. This makes it easier for users, stakers, and developers to see which validators are helping the network and which ones may be hurting performance.
By making these behaviors visible, Jito wants to improve network stability, reduce latency, and push validators toward more honest participation. Over time, this could lead to smoother transactions, better user experience, and a stronger Solana ecosystem overall.
