Phishing attacks are on the rise in the Telegram-linked blockchain platform, The Open Network (TON), warns blockchain security firm SlowMist. The TON ecosystem, which hosts various decentralized applications and tokens, is being targeted due to its rapid growth in 2024. Scammers are exploiting easy access to message groups to post phishing links, luring users to give away their TON wallets. Users with anonymous numbers are particularly vulnerable. Despite the risks, TON's total value locked (TVL) has surged 4,500% in 2024, driven by the popularity of its native cryptocurrency, Toncoin, and play-to-earn token Notcoin.
