🚨Mt. Gox Case Developments
Regarding the latest developments in the Mt. Gox case, the trustee in charge of the compensation process, Nobuaki Kobayashi, has announced an extension of the repayment deadline to October 31, 2024, from the previously scheduled date of October 31, 2023.
Payments are expected to begin in late 2023 and continue through 2024. This includes the return of 142,000 Bitcoin, 143,000 Bitcoin Cash, and 69 billion Japanese Yen, totaling approximately $5 billion.
The trustee's team is currently working on verifying user accounts and confirming Bitcoin ownership before starting the payment process. Despite the extension, some payments are anticipated to begin later this year. However, due to the large number of creditors and the complexities involved, full repayment may be delayed until next year.
