James Butterfill, Head of Research at CoinShares, has predicted that Bitcoin (BTC) prices will fluctuate between $80,000 and $150,000 by 2025.

Butterfill, along with other industry leaders, remains optimistic about Bitcoin’s potential to surpass $150,000 within the year, despite ongoing market volatility and liquidation events.

A Positive Long-Term Outlook

In an interview with CNBC, Butterfill stated that achieving prices of $80,000 to $150,000 is realistic by 2025. However, he emphasized that reaching $250,000—equivalent to 25% of gold’s market value—is a longer-term goal requiring more time and favorable conditions.

Currently, Bitcoin represents only 10% of gold’s market value. Butterfill highlighted that achieving significant milestones depends on key factors, such as supportive cryptocurrency policies and a conducive regulatory environment in the United States.

The $80,000 mark may materialize if cryptocurrency-friendly policies, like those proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, are not implemented. Meanwhile, a more favorable legal and regulatory landscape in the U.S. remains a crucial driver of Bitcoin’s growth.

Other Bitcoin Price Predictions

Other financial firms share similar optimism. Bitwise Asset Management projects that Bitcoin could hit $200,000 by the end of 2025, benefitting companies like MicroStrategy, which hold large amounts of Bitcoin.

VanEck, taking a longer-term view, predicts Bitcoin could soar to $3 million by 2050, supported by its potential as a global reserve asset and its inverse correlation with the U.S. dollar.

Growing Institutional and National Interest

Institutional investors are increasingly embracing Bitcoin. BlackRock has suggested allocating 1%-2% of traditional investment portfolios to Bitcoin, signaling greater acceptance of cryptocurrencies in mainstream finance.

Countries like Russia, Japan, the U.S., and Switzerland have also proposed establishing Bitcoin as part of their national reserves, bolstering confidence in its future as a reliable asset class.

Long-Term Potential

Pantera Capital, renowned for its successful Bitcoin fund, forecasts BTC could reach $117,000 by 2025 and climb as high as $740,000 by 2028. These projections reflect a growing belief in Bitcoin’s ability to deliver substantial returns and its enduring relevance in the global financial landscape.
